Bismah Maroof was appointed as the all-format captain for Pakistan in September 2017, During her captaincy, Pakistan’s ODI team played 34 matches, winning 16, while the T20I side won 27 out of 62 matches, as stated in a press release by the PCB and she has had the best win/loss ratio amongst all the regular players to lead the country in One-Day Internationals) and T20 Internationals.

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team captain, Bismah Maroof, has resigned from her captaincy position to make way for a younger colleague, according to PCB’s Najam Sethi. Despite stepping down, Bismah will continue to be available for Pakistan as a normal player, Sethi expressing confidence that she will bring further glory to the country.

During her tenure, the team won 27 of the 62 T20Is and 16 of the 34 ODIs. Bismah is a left-handed batsman and right-arm leg break bowler, and she became the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in both ODI and T20I formats in June 2022. So far, she has scored 3110 runs in 124 ODIs and 2658 runs in 132 T20Is, with averages of 30.2 and 27.1, respectively, in her 17-year-long career.

She resigned via a tweet on Twitter stating “Now, I feel that it is the right time for a transition and a chance to groom a young captain. I will always be there to assist, guide and support the team and the young captain in every way,” and was accepted by PCB Management Committee Chairperson Najam Sethi.
