Sania Mirza, the world-renowned Indian tennis champion and winner of numerous titles, has recently been given the highest form of recognition—the Sportstar Aces Inspirational Icon Award for being an inspiration for millions of people globally.  At the ceremony in Mumbai, she received the award from Sunil Gavaskar (Famous Indian Cricketer). She was asked to speak a few words after the honorary award to the audience and she said “I am honored to be here. It has been quite an emotional last couple of months as you know that a lot of things have been happening and a lot of decisions have been [taken]”.

“I remember as a child opening up the magazine and this poster coming up with the cover photos of athletes and I wished one day I would be on this cover. The magazine always inspired me. Due to that, it has been a true honor for me to be here and to be part of this Sports Star family,”

This notable achievement is certainly well deserved for an individual that has achieved so much throughout their career and become a true symbol of success not only in sports but also as a role model to young athletes worldwide striving to achieve greatness themselves!
